Spanish Rural Apartments:
Fishing in the River Ebro

The River Ebro is the longest river that flows entirely within Spain. Rising in the Cantabrian Mountains in the north of Spain and flowing roughly south before reaching the Mediterranean Sea, forming the Ebro Delta between Valencia and Barcelona.

River Ebro Map

The River Ebro has a reputation as one of the best coarse fishing rivers anywherein Europe. There are massive stocks of fish including Carp, Zander, Barbel, Roach and Pike, as well as the massive Wels Catfish that can weigh over 200lbs.

The river is fed by the melting snow from the Pyrenees mountains in springtime, with the fast flowing water making excellent fishing sport at this time of the year. However, as there is no closed season on the River Ebro, the time of year can favour different types of fish; the warmer waters in the summer favouring cat fishing and the cooler waters favouring carp bass and zander.

You can fish directly from the bank, or guided fishing trips are available locally. Arrangements can be made to hire all the required equipment.

Our apartments are five minutes walk from the River.
